Enrollment Policy

Only students who have registered and paid for a class may attend a Continuing Education class. No individual can substitute for a registered student, and non-registered guests are not permitted to attend classes.

Withdrawal & Refund Policy

The Refund Policy is established by the NC General Assembly for all NC Community Colleges.  Refunds, unless otherwise required by law, community colleges shall not issue a registration fee refund using State Funds except under the following circumstances. 

Refund request or official withdraws must be made in writing by the student.  Refund request forms are available by request from the Continuing Education Department.  A request for refund may be done by letter or email.

  • A 100-percent refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws or is officially withdrawn by the college form a class prior to the first course section meeting.
  • A 100-percent refund to the students if the college cancels the course section in which the student is registered.  No written request is required for cancelled classes
  • A 75-percent refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws or if officially withdrawn by the college from a course before or on the "census date" of the course.  This applies to all course except those course that begin and end on the same calendar day. Colleges shall not provide a student a refund using State Funds after the start of a course that begins and ends on the same calendar day.
  • SCC will not provide a student a refund for courses considered Community Service or Self Supporting.
