Adv. Paramedic Refresher
Summary
The Advanced Paramedic Refresher for
Critical Care is an intensive course designed to update and expand the
knowledge and skills of experienced paramedics specializing in critical care
transport. This course covers advanced concepts in the management of critically
ill or injured patients, including advanced airway techniques, hemodynamic
monitoring, pharmacological interventions, and mechanical ventilation.
Participants will review key topics such as trauma resuscitation, neurocritical
care, cardiac emergencies, high-risk obstetrics, and pediatric and neonatal
critical care.
Emphasis is placed on current evidence-based
practices, advanced diagnostics such as 12-lead ECG interpretation, and the use
of advanced medical technologies including intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP),
extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and ventilator management.
Scenario-based simulations will challenge participants to apply critical
thinking and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
Upon completion, paramedics will be equipped with
the knowledge and confidence to manage complex, critically ill patients during
interfacility transfers, air transport, and in-field critical care, ensuring
compliance with state and national recertification standards. This course
follows the guidance of IBSC for FP-C; CCP-C and TP-C.
